The chart doesn't have any tan running stitches but the picture shows it going all thru the bands. Read the notes explaining the running stitches placement in step 12 & 13. 

I enlarged and printed this section for a visual chart fromthe colour picture in kit. You pretty much have to use your judgement in this running stitch section staying along the middle of the sections. I used the picture a lot since my chart was hard to read the lines.
